Palestinian Wastewater Engineers Group (PWEG) was founded in 2003, registered at the Palestinian Interior Ministry as a non profit making and non governmental organization. PWEG main field of expertise and interest is the collection, treatment, disposal and reuse of wastewater and sewage sludge. Our slogan is CLEAN ENVIRONMENT. Our experience in developmental Water and Sanitation projects with marginalized village and local councils and with municipalities contributes to our input in enhancing the technical, managerial and financial level of the Water and Sanitation sector in Palestine. We aim to actively participate in developing the Water and Sanitation sector and providing quality services for the public community, and to be an example of high efficiency among sector institutions. PWEG philosophy is reflected in its mission and goals.

Mission

PWEG is highly dedicated to enhancing the level of Water and Sanitation sector in Palestine. We aim to qualify professional and experienced members. Our utmost goal is to contribute to environmental pollution abatement and to protect the public health.

Strategic goals

PWEG highly supports and actively contribute to all activities of the Water and Sanitation sector undertaken by both local and international organizations. The strategic goals of PWEG are:

Organizational Performance Improvement and Development

  • PWEG is a member in several working groups, committees and environmental associations working on formulation and adoption of adequate wastewater management rules and standards.

Environmental Protection and Water Recycling

  • PWEG supports communities with solutions for wastewater collection, treatment, disposal and reuse as well as with the utilization of sewage sludge.

  • PWEG works on the protection of groundwater resources by indicating and surveying it’s major pollutants and constructing facilities which prevents it’s pollution.

  • For the industrial sector, PWEG develops solutions for discharge, whereby concepts for the removal of hazardous substances are at the forefront.

Public Awareness and Capacity Building

  • PWEG is actively participating in activities of capacity building of the water and sanitation sector through its intensive press, training activities, collaboration and exchange of experience with experts from various fields and through training courses and seminars planned and arranged to suit sector’s needs.

  • PWEG encourages and promotes training at the different target groups levels made by local, regional and international experts according to real needs of the water and sanitation sector.

  • PWEG encourage and promote the environmental neighborhoods and cross boarder cooperation between operating agencies at local, regional and international level. This includes experts’ mobility to insure a continuous training and development by exchanging specialists’ knowledge and environment protection ideas.

Target groups

Municipalities, and local communities and village councils are among our main target groups. Palestinian environmental concerned organizations benefit from the activities of PWEG. Wastewater utilities and Palestinian consulting engineering firms benefit from our activities. Palestinian contractors, individuals and companies are also targeted by our activities. The Palestinian Water Authority is benefiting from our work on enhancing the level of wastewater sector in Palestine. The Environmental Quality Authority and the private sector is one of the targeted groups by our activities.

Board of Trustees

PWEG board of directors consists of seven experienced wastewater engineers and technicians, economists and managers. The board has large experience in planning, designing and implementing developmental projects.
