Public Meeting at Taybeh Municipality
PWEG in partnership with Taybeh Municipality and Ramoun Village Council organized a public meeting at taybeh Municipality to discuss Taybeh and Ramoun proposed sewearge project, the meeting was attended by the mayors of Taybeh and Ramoun, council members from both municipalities, rapresentatives of the civil society of the two towns, schools directors, agricultural local societies, religios representatives of both towns,Taybeh women association and people from Taybeh and Ramoun. The discussion focussed on the proposed wastewater project.

The public meeting organized by PWEG in cooperation and coordination with Taybeh Municipality and Ramouin Village Council concentrated on the proposed wastewater project. The meeting was started by Dr. Daoud Khury Mayor of Taybeh who introduced PWEG expert staff and elaborated about the need of Taybeh and Ramoun of a wastewater project and the need of farmers of water for irrigation. The Mayor of Ramoun Abed Jebeya also stressed the importance of having water to irrigate the land of Ramoun and Taybeh, he stressed the lack of water for irrigation and elaborated about the suffer of Ramoun and Taybeh people who are turning back from the states and the world due to the international economic crises and explained that these people are tryning to cultivate their land but suffer from lack of water. PWEG expert staff explained about the proposed partnership with Taybeh and Ramoun Municipalities and agricultural associations ad about the proposed wastewater project which wil contribute to make available unconventional source of water to be used in agriculture. The present farmers have raised many questions on reuse of treated wastewater and the feasibility of its reuse in agriculture, representatives from the women associations asked about the location of the plant and the needed financial resources to operate it, other present people asked about the crop rotationand the surface of area expected to be cultivated, they asked about financial fees, the mayors and the council members together with PWEG has responded to the questions and explaned that the project is in a very preliminary phase and needs the efforts of the whole comunity, at the end of the meeting it was agreed to form a project steering committe that includes the two municipalities and the society rapresentatives to follow and coordinate the project activities together with PWEG.
