The project aimed to achieve improvement of quality standards of life of Bethlehem Governorate population thorough the improvement of public services provided by local Joint Service Council for solid waste management JSCSWM. In addition its strengthened the financial viability of Bethlehem JSCSWM through costs optimization, settings of a tariff plan for solid waste management services, increase in fees collection ratio and financial management capability and obtained public participation through an increase in the awareness level of local population over environmental and sanitary risks deriving from improper waste management, by involving them in solid waste problem resolution. Rise of the share of resident population keen to pay for SWM services.

The project contributed towards the improvement of the environment and the Solid Waste Management (SWM) systems in the south of the West Bank, through proper collection and transportation of solid waste. Contributed towards the strengthening of Bethlehem JSCSWM and the project on merging the SWM departments of the different local authorities in Bethlehem governorate in the Joint Service Council for Solid Waste Management. In addition the project worked to optimize waste collection and transportation in Bethlehem city and the JSCSWM through the training of the staff with capacities of managing solid waste in the governorate of Bethlehem.

Improve the quality of living standards in the Hebron Governorate through the improvement of public services provided by the Local JSCSWM. The project also intervened in the Bethlehem Governorate through the involvement of the Bethlehem JSCSWM aiming at the same overall objective to improve living standards.
