Training course prepared as partof PLUS project

PWEG expert staff started management training on Governance Structure in Jan. 6th 2007 for four days which was attended by the mayors of the six villages making part of JSCPD North Jerusalem, JSCPD staff and some staff of the village councils. First day was about management training session and introduction on water crisis in Palestine, the second day of training was on Sector Policies and Guidelines conducted in Jan. 8th 2007, third day of training session was in Jan. 14th 2007 on Joint Service Councils Background (background, legal issues, and operations of JSCs), JSC- Institutional and Financial Assessment.

Following the training topics which were raised and explained in the third day, a case study of JSC West Jenin was discussed as a case study, the training conducted in Jan. 15th 2007 by Eng. Monir Jaradat the Executive Director of JSC West Jenin, the accountant of JSC West Jenin and Eng. Jansen Pascal in which the following topics were discussed and clarified: JSC Jenin (brief presentation, start up phase, annual operation budget, cost recovery and tariffs, debate; start up of JSCPD water/wastewater unit; the way forward.

Water training restarted in Jan. 21st 2007 until Feb 22th, 2007 by Jansen Pascal, training contents was as following: Water resources planning and management, Hydrogeology and hydrology, water supply in West Bank, Water Supply, water facility master planning, Operation and Maintenance Procedures, Water Supply Water Networks, Design and Planning Guidelines, Water Supply Water Networks and Construction Guidelines, Water Supply Water networks /operation and maintenance procedures and tasks, Operational budget planning, Water resources Management, operation and maintenance procedures.
 

Technical Training on Solid Waste Management

The training course aimed at providing theoretical knowledge on SWM issues and developing outputs which can be directly used and followed up by the participants. The training contained lectures, exercises, site visits and group discussions. Apart from technical issues, the SWM training provided managerial tools and allowed developing presentation skills. The 10-days training were split in two sessions of five-days training each. A four weeks gap between these two sessions was meant to deepen participants’ knowledge on SWM and to allowing them to collect relevant data of the member communities of the JSCPD.

  • Video and audio promotion: two Italian experts has been working on promoting project activities, radio phonic documentary was produced and transmitted on January 25th 2007 at 09:35 A.M and will be replied on January 28th at 11:00 A.M, the transmition is made on Controradio, the audio documentary will be available on www.controradio.it starting from January 29th 2007, the documentary will be transmitted by Radio Popolare through its network including other 32 Radios distributed over all Italy. Visits have been made to the JSCPD and to all Village Councils where mayors, few council members and staff have been interviewed. Video documentation of the village’s members of the JSCPD has also been made; the video contains explanation about the project and project area, achievements and difficulties of the JSCPD and the other Village Councils members of the JSCPD.
